Dome Screen 4D Theatre

During our explorations of "Tour of the Universe" we realized that its not enough just to make content that fits a dome theatre, we can do so much more. This led us to exploring how we could make the most immersive experience possible which we call "Flyride". So what is Flyride you might be wondering?

For starters, we designed a brand new theatre from scratch. This includes a dome theater and a staggered multi floor seating bays and each bay consists of multiple benches of seats. The seats are also designed by us and provide full range of motion synchronized with content and also comes with 4D effects built in like wind, water, scents etc. The really cool part is when the show starts, the door in front of you goes up and the entire seat mechanism slides forward until there's no floor left. Basically you'll be left with your feet dangling in the air and a massive dome screen going all the way around your view putting you INSIDE the movie. Almost like VR without the headset.

As this theatre had many moving parts all synchronized and connected to each other it was very important for us to make sure its safe and as designers we worked closely with the engineers to design and develop the entire thing in 3D first. Obviously we used VR in the initial prototyping stages since this theatre and dome screen combination didn't exist anywhere on earth for us to physically go and test.

Today this theatre exists in Wilderness Resort on Milwaukee and is one of our flagship locations. If you ever visit Milwaukee don't miss this experience! In the meantime you can check out some sample videos below.
